Dryflow EcoForce
The Dryflow EcoForce has been a popular alternative to the PHS/World Dryer Airforce for over a decade. The design, with multiple small air jets provides a massaging and drying effect which was popularised almost 20 years ago by the Airforce and still remains much in demand today.
The compact size and attractive shape have aged very well, but how does the overall performance compare with the latest designs?

The Dryflow EcoForce - Value
At less than half the price of an Airforce it represents great value as an retrofit alternative or for those that love this type of multi-jet dryer, however compared with the general market there are better value options in terms of price, performance and lifespan.
The Dryflow EcoForce - Appearance
The EcoForce has a timeless appearance. Small, with attractive sweeping contours, available in a white or chrome finish. This product still fits in with the most attractive and modern washroom designs.
The Dryflow EcoForce - Dry Speed
This is where both the original Airforce and its budget alternative, the EcoForce, fall down a little.
The manufacturer states 10-15 seconds but realistically the dry time is between 19 and 21 seconds. We have come to expect less as standard.
That said it’s a more enjoyable, less intense dry, due to the massaging effect!
The Dryflow EcoForce - Energy Efficiency
The energy efficiency of a dryer is measured by two things: rated power and dry speed.
The Dryflow EcoForce has a rated power between 0.5 kW and 1.25 kW with heater element (heater only needed in cold locations). So the energy consumption range of the unit is between 2.77 and 7 Wh per dry.
To put this into context, the Dyson Airblade AB14 uses 4.44 Wh per dry, a traditional warm-air dryer uses 20-30 Wh, and the best available uses 1-2 Wh.
At current tariffs you can dry roughly 3000 pairs of hands for just £1, this is a 95% saving against paper towels.
The Dryflow EcoForce - Quiet Operation
Unlike many high-speed dryers, the EcoForce has 13 air outlets rather than 1 so the airflow is spread and less intense than many. This helps it to be a relatively quiet, high-speed option.
We find this dryer is often tolerated by younger children and those sensitive to loud noises.
The Dryflow EcoForce - Vandal Resistance
The Dryflow EcoForce achieves a mid-score for vandal resistance.
It’s a solid dryer with anti-tamper screws and a locking mechanism that will fox would-be thieves, and its smooth shape makes it difficult to get a grip.
The negatives are the plastic backplate and leverage points under the dryer.
There has been no reported issue with these dryers being vandalised but we would perhaps suggest other options if you have particular concerns or have experienced regular vandalism previously.
The Dryflow EcoForce - Life Expectancy
The EcoForce has one of the lowest motor-lifespans at just 550 hours, so it’s important not to locate them in high-traffic areas. Think office toilets, low-use public facilities.
It is also backed by Dryflow's Lifetime Guarantee.
The Dryflow EcoForce - Conclusion
The EcoForce was designed as an alternative to the Airforce and in this sense it’s an excellent value option!
While its energy efficient, reasonably quiet, looks great and performs satisfactorily, there are definitely better dryers out there.
