What are foaming soap dispensers? How are they different?
Foam soap dispensers have a special pump that introduces air to a liquid-form soap. Foaming soap is typically very watery and contains agents which allow it to foam and volumise up when passed through an aerating pump. We have a number of dispensers that can either be foam or liquid soap dispensers, the only difference is the pump.
Are wall-mounted soap dispensers dirty?
That is like saying are people dirty? Well, if they don’t keep themselves clean then yes. A soap dispenser that is never cleaned inside and out will inevitably become dirty, so it's important to regularly clean the surfaces and inside of a dispenser. That said, if your concern is regarding the soap, these are generally sealed to the outside and soap is naturally anti-microbial so it's very unlikely you are dispensing any nasties onto your hands. The process of washing with soap will eradicate anything if done properly anyway. Touchless soap dispensers stay cleaner and many dispensers have anti-microbial coatings. Companies try to say that you must use a sealed plastic bag system for optimum hygiene, however, this is more about charging higher prices and restricting customers as to the refills they can use than it is about hygiene.
What type of soap is most recommended?
We only sell ‘open’ systems where you can use most soaps, it saves on packaging and plastic waste and gives the building manager the best value for money. Foam and spray soaps provide a greater number of hand washes than liquid soap and can now be purchased in powder or super-concentrated forms where you add water on site. These systems save even more waste and reduce environmental impact as they come in dissolvable or tiny paper packaging, this stops bulky liquid from being transported around the country.
Specialised industrial soaps with beads in to help remove grease and oils can be used with a small selection of our commercial soap dispensers
Can wall-mounted soap dispensers be used for hand sanitiser?
Mostly yes, the majority of our dispensers have a PP Polypropylene reservoir inside which is highly resistant to alcohol. The best systems will have a lid on the reservoir to stop air/humidity/heat from getting into the dispenser causing some of the alcohol gel to evaporate. Our product pages state whether the product is appropriate for alcohol sanitiser or for ease you can go to our Hand Sanitiser dispenser section.
Soap dispensers for schools
Schools generally have tight budgets but cannot skimp on hand hygiene. Hand hygiene is so important to maintain good attendance for both teachers and pupils. It is important that a soap dispenser in a school is robust and tamper-resistant yet simple for the cleaning team to access and refill. We would recommend push-button soap dispensers over any pull lever systems in a school as these tend to be.
What height should a commercial soap dispenser be installed at?
If you are fitting soap dispensers in a public facility, the architect will have designed the sinks to cater to a range of heights, including a lower-down unit for younger children. The wall-mounted dispenser will need sufficient clearance from surfaces to allow hands underneath and to open properly so check this prior to purchase. Then it is just a case of installing at an age or disability-appropriate height.
Countertop dispensers offer a more accessible option as they can be positioned closer to the user rather than on the wall behind the sink.
Can commercial soap dispensers be recycled?
Yes, in fact, we will take care of it for you at the end of the product's life. Simply return the item to us and in the first instance we will try and repair but if we can’t we will recycle as much of the product as we possibly can.
Commercial soap dispensers are largely made of either ABS plastic, Aluminium, or Stainless steel. Each material is recyclable, with stainless and aluminum being infinitely recyclable. The internal containers and pumps are often made of polypropylene which is also recyclable. We offer a range of commercial soap dispensers made from 100% industrial waste called the ReGen range.
Why do wall-mounted soap dispensers stop working?
Normally a wall-mounted soap dispenser stops working because the pump is clogged up. This frequently happens when dispensers are not in regular use and the product inside conceals in the pump. Try emptying the dispenser and flushing through with very hot water (proceed with caution). Alternatively, a spring on the pump may have broken or the pump may have cracked. Check thoroughly for any damage.
What colours are commercial soap dispensers available in?
We can provide commercial soap dispensers in 8 standard colors and finishes including polished chrome, brushed satin, white, black, blue, orange, yellow, and green. We can also customise dispensers in any color you desire. We regularly work with architects and design professionals to bring to life their vision.
