Portable Air Con Units

Not all commercial working environments have the luxury of air conditioning. Places can get hot and stuffy, the heat can cause irritability and make it difficult to work. This is where a portable air conditioning unit can be an essential addition. providing a continuous flow of cool air, cooling things down. Our air conditioners sit silently in the corner of any room, maintaining the optimum temperature and improving the working environment. Of course you can always open a window but with temperatures reaching an average of 21° with some days over 30° you are more likely to let warm air in, making any chance of respite from a cool breeze virtually impossible. Air conditioning units have improved dramatically over the years and modern units are equipped with air filters to remove odours from the room as well as compatibility with smart devices such as Alexa and Google Home.

Why Choose a Portable AC Unit?

An essential part of any modern business, a portable AC unit can be moved around to cool the place you or your staff spend most time in. This means that it can be shut away in cooler months, then rolled into place without any delay or fuss. Fast and economical, modern moveable devices can cool closed off areas like meeting rooms and offices, without the need to cool the whole building, saving you money. This ultimately leads to more productivity and a happier workforce.

How to Choose The Right Portable Air-Conditioning Unit

Room Size

Room size is important because it determines the size of portable air con unit you need to buy. In large areas you may need to at opposite ends of the room. These units are not designed to cool an entire building but are very effective in rooms where careful consideration has been given to the capacity. Manufacturers use BTUs to determine how powerful their units are, so you can work out just how many are needed to cool a particular space. Consideration must also be given to the room itself. If the windows face the sun at times during the day then this will increase the ambient temperature in the room, compromising performance. You must also remember to keep doors and windows closed as this will introduce warm air into the space.

Room Size BTU’s Needed Room Size BTU’s Needed
400 sq. ft.  9,000 BTU’s 700 sq. ft. 14,000 BTU’s
450 sq. ft. 10,000 BTU’s 1,000 sq. ft. 18,000 BTU’s
550 sq. ft. 12,000 BTU’s 1,200 sq. ft. 21,000 BTU’s

These are approximate measurements, where room height is not taken into account.

Energy Efficiency

Using a portable air conditioner will consume more energy so as ever, it is a compromise between use and benefit. All of our air conditioning units are Class A performance wise, with silent technology, operating around 64 dB(A), and whilst of course you will hear the air movement, the units themselves are extremely quiet. Power input is between 900W and 1050W

Technical Specs

If you navigate to any of the portable air conditioners on this page you will see a list of technical specifications for each one. They mainly show the room sizes in M³ which is slightly different to those in teh table. This of course adds in the room height to the equation and converts to metres. So for example if you had a 400 sq. ft. room and it had a 10 ft ceiling height, the volume would be 4000 sq. ft. or 113 M³ (You divide the total in cube feet by ~ 35.32. The output is also specified in BTU or British Thermal Units. Input power is also specified in Watts (W) so you can get an idea of the cost of running a small air conditioner. Each unit is remote control, so they can all be operated remotely.

Do Portable Air Conditioning Units Need Venting?

None of the units on this page need venting through a window or a hole in the wall. They are all completely portable, on wheels, so that they can be used in any room of an office, house or other commercial building. They use a process called a condensate recirculatory system which recycles droplets of water to create cooling. This also removed moisture from the air which reduces mugginess in teh room. It's also a boon for asthma sufferers where high humidity can be problematic!

The Right Colour and Finish

Our units come in a range of colours and finishes to suit your design and décor. Not everyone wants a big lump of white plastic in their room! These units come in white, silver and black depending on their size and output.
