Introducing the uniquely designed G-force MK2 hand dryer, which encompasses all three of the highly popular G-Force models in 1 superior quality hand dryer.  A real innovation in this model is a plug-in system phased installation (see photo on left and video), which revolutionises the way hand dryers are going to be mounted.  Highly adjustable, you can run this at just 420W for enhanced energy efficiency! Full speed gives fast 12-15 second dry times and switching the heater element on or off is possible to condition the unit to user requirements or to lower energy use and costs.  With a heater element of just 400W, which can be switched off altogether, you are able to add instant comfort to the hands in colder environments, an option not readily available in other high speed hand dryers. This is a high-quality, robust product that we would recommend for mid to high traffic areas (300-500 uses per day).  Customers have installed these in new builds, offices, supermarkets, shopping centres, service stations, railway stations and hotels.

The plug-in system allows a 1st phase fitting of the electrical back plate to be made whilst other work is being carried out. The main unit then just gets placed on the back plate and securely fastened to it. See the downloads section below for the plug-in installation guide. Maintenance is quicker and cheaper as anyone can detach the unit from the electrical supply quickly and safely. Technical Description

Plug-in system phased installation allows a 1st phase install of the backplate to the electrics, making installation and maintenance quick and easy. Available in 1.5mm thick White epoxy painted steel, AISI 304 Brushed Satin stainless steel or AISI 304 Polished Chrome Stainless Steel; robust and vandal resistant properties. Adjustable 420W - 1100W brushed motor produces 19,000 – 30,000 RPM, giving a 202 MPH air speed which delivers 12-15 second dry times. Optional heater element engagement via internal on/off switch only increases overall consumption by 400W.  Sound levels can be adjusted from 67-74db (at 2M) and the base plate includes silent-blocks to cushion mechanical vibrations.

    This rating is based on the watts per dry of the hand dryer which is derived from the rated power and the time taken to dry the hands. We have used the figures based on either the manufacturer’s dry time, if yet to be in house tested or based on the in house testing dry time we have conducted. This will also be based on the most energy efficient setting, if the hand dryer is adjustable for speed and/or heat.

How suitable is the G-Force MK II for disabled users?

There are a few points to consider when choosing a hand dryer with disabled users in mind.  These include:

  • Wheelchair access with regard to users being able to position their hands correctly.
  • The amount of moisture that will be left on the floor after drying if units are to be used by people physically impaired.
  • The noise level of some high speed hand dryers may be too loud for some users, such as users with autism, multiple sclerosis, etc.

Disabled areas often double up as baby changing facilities, so considerations include leaving extra space for double buggies, noise levels for children, etc.

The G-Force MK II hand dryer has the following features that may negate these concerns:

What is the life expectancy of the G-Force MK II?

So how long will this dryer last?

Hand dryers can have 2 types of motor which are:

  • A digital brushless motor
  • A universal brush motor

In theory, universal brush motors do not last as long as digital brushless motors and require the brushes to be changed periodically. They also vary in their lifespan. Digital motors however do cost more to repair should they fail at any point. There are variations in the lifespans of both universal brushed motors and digital motors.

The best way to choose what is right for you is to look at your facility and the amount of use each hand dryer is expected to get. This way it can be determined if a brushed motor hand dryer would be most suitable for you or whether investing in a digital brushless motor would be more cost effective.

How quiet is the G-Force MK II?

Manufacturer s typically measure sound levels in terms of decibels dB(A) @ a 1 metre distance in a sound proof chamber. This measurement does not take into account the increase in noise when hands are positioned under/in the dryer or when the sound bounces off walls. Where possible we supply manufacturer's stated dB (A), and 2 independent tests which are more reflective of 'real conditions’.

If set on high speed mode (74 decibels), we would not recommended this hand dryer for areas where quiet noise levels are preferable.

It is worth noting that if your noise concern relates to the noise carrying into different areas of the building then pitch will be just as relevant as sound output (loudness). Higher frequency pitches will not travel through walls as easily as low frequency pitches for example. For comparison, a standard conventional hand dryer users around 25 – 30Wh per dry.

The above manufacturer rating is based on their reported dry times between 10-15 seconds and taking into account the high speed setting.

Our in house testing used both high speed and low speed, which produced dry times of approximately 12 seconds for the fastest mode and 23 seconds for the slowest.

In detail, the G-Force MK II requires 2.68 Wh when on low speed eco setting, 5.24 Wh on low speed with heat, 3.67 Wh on high speed eco and 5 Wh on high speed with heat.

Even if the heating element was activated, it is a very energy efficient hand dryer when compared to a conventional hand dryer. However, for the more energy conscious, taking away the heat can significantly increase the efficiency.

Does it actually do what the manufacturer states? Independent testing information

At Intelligent Hand Dryers UK, our ethos is to bring you as much open, honest and reliable information as possible so you can make the most suitable and informed purchase.

We endeavour to include independently obtained results and in house testing, as well as manufacturer's specifications. This gives a true reflection of dry time performance, noise and energy efficiency of each hand dryer.

Noise level testing was conducted at the Building Research Establishment (BRE) and a leading independent testing facility.

We also provide in house video testing to demonstrate dry performance. This gives a visual demonstration in “real use” as opposed to using methodical scientific protocols.  The approximate dry time using this method was set when no spots of water could be seen on a paper towel after drying the hands.  This is over and above what is required to be classed as a “hygienic dry” which requires 95% of the hands to be dry after using the dryer.
