Approved Document M gathers several recommendations on mirror placement in accessible toilets, shower rooms and changing facilities at commercial buildings.
As you can see on diagrams 18, 20 and 24, the mirror can be:
- above the washbasin when this facility is independent,
- in front of the basin at accessible washrooms or
- next to the basin in a shower room incorporating a toilet.
The mirror is generally under 600mm wide and at least fitted 600mm from the floor surface.
Regarding self-contained changing rooms for individual use explained in diagram 22, the mirror is in the wall opposite the tip-up seat.
