Airforce Hand Dryers

The Airforce hand dryer range was originally launched in 2007. It is now onto its third-generation model but remains similar to the original. The product is manufactured by World Dryer and distributed in the UK by PHS Warner Howard and their partners. The Airforce hand dryer remains a unique design, rather than having a single or dual air outlet, it has 11 separate air outlets that provide a pleasant massaging effect while drying.

The Airforce was the one of the first dryers to remove the heater element entirely and rely on air speed and residual heat from the motor to dry the hands. At the time of launch, it was the lowest energy-rated hand dryer on the market at 1.1kw, even lower than the Xlerator at 1.4kw and the Dyson Airblade at 1.6kw.

Dryers have evolved since then and the Airforce is no longer the most efficient unit, but it remains a hugely popular and trusted product, selling more units than any other in the last 15 years.  Aesthetically, it remains compact and attractive. The Airforce hand dryer is available in 4 finishes, white, black, polished chrome and a brushed satin effect, all external components are coated with patented Steritouch anti-bacterial coating.

How does the Airforce Hand Dryer compare?

How fast are Airforce hand dryers?

We performed a dry test on the Airforce and found that it realistically takes 20-23 seconds to fully dry the hands. This does speed up if the dryer is in regular use as the airflow starts warm creating some additional evaporation. By comparison, the fastest dryers dry in 10 seconds. The Airforce is an enjoyable drying experience compared with many, a much calmer feeling which may be preferred by users with sensory issues.

How long do Airforce hand dryers last?

The motor lasts 800 hours of continuous use which is actually not that long, about 144,000 uses based on drying for 20 seconds at a time. They are very reliable within that time period though and the 3-year on-site warranty gives peace of mind. The longest lasting units on the market can last up to 2 million cycles.

Is the Airforce hand dryer quiet?

For a fast airflow machine, it is reasonably quiet. 79 dB(A) is the official noise level at 1 metre and this doesn’t increase much in normal use because the airflow is dispersed across the multiple jets.

How much is the Airforce hand dryer?

The basic white model starts from £299, with the polished chrome £359 + vat. We provide a price match promise on this model and remember when you buy through us 1% also goes to environmental charities. We also offer a take back scheme so at the end of life your Airforce will have a residual value if returned to us.

Does the Airforce hand dryer have a HEPA filter?

No, they do not have HEPA filters. HEPA filters are available in many hand dryers now, but the Airforce is not one of them. Read more about the importance of this in our main hand dryer section.

Is the Airforce a cold air hand dryer?

Yes, the Airforce hand dryer has no heater element, it dries using a series of high-powered jets. This improves energy efficiency but if the dryer is not in regular use, the air can be very cold. When used regularly, the residual heat from the motor starts to be felt.Check out our blog to read the detailedreview of Airforce hand dryers. Not sure if the Airforce hand dryer is right for you?
